High Winds and Heavy Seas

When I saw this section of Vinnie's movie, I could just hear a long Boatswain's pipe and then hear "Now hear this, now hear this, secure all water tight hatches, stand clear of all weather decks due to high winds and heavy seas".

I wish this section of the video could be seen in its entirety, it would sure make you feel you were there - I'm sure the "ride" was not for the "weak in stomach". I remember some of those -- I loved them. I used to go up to the Admiral's Bridge or the 09 level to watch the waves brake over the bow. Vinnie has captured what looks to me like a wild ride. I think CG-12 could only list so many degrees port or starboard and there was the "angle of no return". I built a Microsoft AVI movie segment showing the "ride". It is about 1.3MB so it may take a while to load.
Download the "movie" here.    (Netscape users may have to "Click" on the image, then hit the "Back" button when movie is completed).
